BioPerine – What You Need to Know about The Ingredient

6 Min Read

Is BioPerine a natural supplement? Yes and despite how the name may sound, it is all-natural. But the confusion is understandable – it does sound like something concocted in a laboratory but nothing could be further from the truth. BioPerine is completely natural and actually refers to something very common that you are pretty much guaranteed to have in your own kitchen.

What is BioPerine?

Did you figure out what the common ingredient you are guaranteed to have in your kitchen is? Black pepper! That’s right – BioPerine is black pepper extract. Yes, the same black pepper that you put on your food. And although you might know black pepper as the condiment you garnish your food with, it also turns out that black pepper is a very healthy spice with benefits for your entire body.

Sometimes black pepper is referred to as piperine and it is actually the active component of black pepper that gives you the benefits. So BioPerine is simply the trade name of a specific brand of black pepper extract. But all of these names are referring to the exact same substance.

What is BioPerine used for?

Black pepper is used to treat gastrointestinal problems and more. But mostly it is used to enhance bioavailability in supplements – like the beauty supplement you may be taking for your hair, skin and nails. On BioPerine’s website the following is stated about the extract:

“Black pepper extract can boost the bioavailability of selenium by 42.6%. And the bioavailability of vitamin C can increase by 52.3%”

Other nutrients which BioPerine helps your body to better absorb and process include calcium, iron, zinc, iodine, copper, vitamin E, vitamin A, vitamin D, ginko biloba, and more. Even some antioxidants are enhanced by BioPerine. So what does this exactly mean? What does it mean that BioPerine is increasing bioavailability? It means that it helps you to absorb other nutrients better by elevating their metabolism. Yes, it is that simple.

BioPerine

BioPerine, or Piperine is an extract derived from black pepper. Piperine is what gives peppers their spicy taste. This extract is marketed as a nutritional supplement and has been found to increase the absorption of a variety of nutrients.

But how does this work…

So how does BioPerine help your body to absorb other nutrients? Through a process that is known as thermogenesis. Thermogenesis is a vital part of the digestive process and by amplifying it, you can boost absorption of other nutrients. BioPerine supplies your body with a higher amount of thermal energy. This thermal energy powers the thermogenesis process. This in turn leads to an increase of your body’s demand for nutrients, which spurs metabolism. So without this added demand, your body would simply say no to the nutrients it does not think that it needs at that moment.

The beauty of BioPerine

By now you should understand that BioPerine boosts the effectiveness of many nutrients that your food contains. So using it as a daily supplement will do wonders for not only your hair, but your entire body. Who wouldn’t want a supplement that helps nutrients along the way so that they can reach their full potential?
