Best Hair Treatment For Dry Damaged Hair

5 Min Read

Nutrafol’s previous post talked about some good hair treatment for dry damaged hair due to the harsh summer weather. This post will continue on that path, giving you the rest of the home remedies that will save your hair this summer.

Apply a natural condition when swimming

Before you leave for the beach or after you had a swim, remember to protect your hair from harsh elements or chemicals. The best way to do this is through a natural homemade rinse that you get when you mix ¼ cup apple cider and ¾ cup water. Cleanse your hair with it, then follow with conditioner.

Wrap your hair up

You have heard it before – do not rub your hair after you get it wet! Instead, wrap up your damaged hair in a cotton towel and let the cotton absorb the moisture for a few minutes. This also helps protect against further split ends.

Let your hair down

Give your hair a rest and let it out – especially if you usually wear it in a ponytail. Also, try not to pull your hair back too tightly as that can damage the hair follicles. Also avoid sleeping with any hair accessories as that too can damage your hair.

Do your hair a favor and spare it from getting damaged by letting it down for a couple of days.

Use a humidifier at night

How is this a hair treatment for dry damaged hair you may ask? Nutrafol will explain. Your home heating keeps the air very dry, especially in winter, and that could be what is drying your hair out. Putting moisture back into the air will help your hair from becoming more dry and damaged.

Sandelwood oil as a remedy

Mix a few drops of sandalwood oil with a few drops of olive or jojoba oil, rub the mixture between your palms, then smooth it through the ends of your hair for instant sleekness and a way to curb and condition brittle hair. Or if you do not have sandalwood oil, you may use your hand lotion. Squirt a few drops of it in your palm and smooth it through your hair.

Eat your vitamins and take your supplements

Kathleen W. Wilson, M.D., an internist at the Ochsner Health Center in New Orleans explains the importance in taking your vitamins – especially those rich in omega-3 fatty acids – and supplements containing nutraceutical ingredients. This is a great hair treatment for dry damaged hair as omega-3 fatty acids and a nutraceutical will keep your hair moisturized.
