The Movember movement is a world-wide effort to reduce the number of men dying prematurely from prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and suicide. Each year, millions of participants across the globe commit to raising funds and awareness by either growing out their mustaches throughout November or walking 60 miles for the 60 men lost to suicide every hour — and Nutrafol joined the cause.
By the end of the month, the Nutrafol team proved its commitment to growing mustaches, awareness, and funds. In addition to a company contribution of a portion of all November sales of Nutrafol for Men going toward the cause, participating staff raised $3,676 from friends and family.
How Nutrafol got involved
On November 1, Nutrafol launched its Movember team. Men within our company committed to growing out their mustaches and participated in a “shave down” to start Movember facial-hair free, while others committed to moving for Movember.
Nutrafol also hosted a company-wide Movember event, or a “Mo-ment,” in mid-November to educate staff on the startling statistics of the men’s health crisis: Across the world, men die an average of six years younger than women, and for reasons that are largely preventable; prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and suicide are leading causes of premature death in men. Left unchecked, prostate cancer rates are set to double over the next 15 years, and testicular cancer rates have already doubled in the last 50. Throughout the world, one man also dies by suicide every minute of every day, with men accounting for 75% of all suicides.
It’s Movember’s mission to improve the quality of life for men across the globe and reduce the number of male premature deaths by 25%, and through its fundraising efforts, Nutrafol played a role in helping the Movember movement work toward that goal.
